No Ard luck story as Carniny Youth under-11s return to winning ways

Carniny Youth Under 11s were back to winning ways last weekend with a 6-3 win over Ards Rangers in the Lisburn League.

The Under 13s also cam out tops in their south Belfast Youth League game against Carryduff Colts with a 2-1 win.

In the NWCDYL the U9 and 10s both lost their games whilst the same fate met the two U12 teams in the Lisburn League. The 14s, 15 and 19s all lost their respective games.

Carniny Youth 2, Maiden City 5: Carniny were two goals down inside 10 minutes before pulling one back through a powerful shot from distance by Adam Wharry and the boys from Carniny drew level a short time later following a fine individual run and finish from Callum McDonald after switching the keeper jersey with Harry Lamont.

Carniny were unlucky to fall behind before the break and two second half goals gave the scoreline a flattering look.

Carniny’s other under-9 team were in small-sided games action in Ballymena where they cotninued their footballing development.

Carniny Youth 2, Limavady Youth 4: Carniny took the lead through McPeake but then conceded four goals within a 17 minute spell, before Clarke got a second goal back just seconds from the end.

Carniny Youth 2, Carryduff 1: Carniny fell a goal behind but responded when Logan raced onto a through ball from McAuley who brilliantly lobbed the advancing keeper from 20 yards.

On 40 minutes Carniny scored the winner when a corner was swung in from Clarke it fell to McMullan who smashed the ball into the net. Carniny: Telford, D Johnston, Reid, McMullan, Kerr, Gregg, Young, Clarke, Pogue, McAuley, Logan, Knowles, Kearney.

Carniny Youth 1, Glentoran 4: Carniny went ahead when Lynn turned home Butler’s shot-cum-cross at the back post but the Glens levelled from the penalty spot and they went on to score three more goals.

Carniny Youth 2, Knockbreda 4: Carniny were two goals adrift before Doherty split the home defence and Agnew finished well into the far corner. The Belfast side scored twice more to put the outcome beyond doubt before Carniny were awarded a last minute penlty which Agnew scored.
