Northend draw with Glens in Foyle Cup opener

THE Northend 1997 team began their Foyle Cup campaign with an excellent scoreless draw against Lisburn League Winners, Glentoran yesterday (Monday).

With a full strength squad to pick from, the Northend Blues are looking forward to an excellent week’s football against some of the top teams in Ireland and the UK.

Manager Glenn Speirs has again assembled a strong squad for the incoming season, which will see the team play in the Elite National League, and he is hoping to repeat the team’s success of the previous year, wherein the Northend Boys carried off the Rosebowl Trophy in the Foyle Cup, at their first time of asking.

A number of Club officials, parents and supporters are expected to make the journey to support the Boys each day in what promises to be an excellent week’s football.

Full of articles and squad profiles, the programme priced at £1, can be purchased from a club official at the Tournament, with all proceeds will be ploughed in to meeting the costs for the tournament.
