Northend U15s reach trophy final in Preston

OVER the Easter weekend, it was the turn of the Northend Blues Youth Teams to go on their annual travels to Scotland and England.

The U9s, U11s and U12s participated in the Falkirk Easter Cup Tournament in what was a great success story for the young Northend Boys and the U15s travelled to Preston to play in the M&L Easter Cup, in what many regard as the top youth football tournament over Easter, in the UK.

Congratulations go to Glenn Speirs U15s who have battled their way into the Final of the Preston M&L Easter Trophy, beating Elite Team Dungannon United in the semi-final.

A report on yesterday’s (Monday) final will appear next week.

No League matches were scheduled for the Easter weekend with only the U16s playing 18th Newtownabbey in the Belfast and East Antrim Cup Quarter Final in mid-week.

In what turned out to be a match of high drama, Johnny Sayers team was beaten 4-2 on penalties after being all square at 3-3 after extra time.
