Northend under-12s have goal-den touch!

IN another good weekend for Northend United Youth in the Belfast and East Antrim Youth League, the U11s and U12s won their matches both against Antrim Rovers at the Forum.

The U13s went down 4-0 to title-chasing Whitehead Eagles team at their Friday night base, under floodlights, at the Showgrounds.

The U11 Team won 4-1 with Captain Aaron Campbell getting two goals and the impressive U12 team won 9-0 with Zack Herbison and David Kilgore bagging two goals each.

In the South Belfast Youth League, the U15 team's good run of form came to a temporary halt, getting beaten 3-0 by Aquinas.

In the George Best Youth League, the U10 'babies' continued their first season with a 4-0 defeat against Lisburn Youth.

UNDER-10

Lisburn Youth 4, Northend 0: Northend's match inexperience showed in the end against the top side in the league.

Northend dominated the early stages without scoring and fell behind midway through the first half after failing to clear a long ball from defence.

Lisburn Youth scored twice more before the break in a similar fashion and they made it four late in the second half. MOM - Oisin Connolly, Scott Sempey

UNDER-11

Antrim Rovers 1, Northend 4: Northend got back to winning ways with a hard fought win over their derby rivals at Antrim Forum.

It was Northend who went in front when a ball over the top beat the offside trap and Jordan Adams was able to volley high into the net.

Northend went further in front when Matthew Kirk was fouled just outside the 18 yard box and up stepped Northend captain Aaron Campbell to strike a unstoppable shot in off the crossbar.

Antrim responded well when they pulled one back, but Northend restored their two goal advantage when they were awarded a penalty when an Antrim player handled the ball on the line. Campbell stepped up to score his second goal when he gave the keeper no chance when he drilled the ball high into the net.

Northend finished the game of when Kuba Babuszewski dribbled past two Antrim players and coolly place the ball into the bottom corner. MOM - Anthony Shaw

UNDER-12

Antrim Rovers 0, Northend 9: Northend took the lead after ten minutes when a great corner from Philip Maybin was superbly volleyed home by Jamie Crawford from the edge of the box.

Maybin was again the provider for the second when his delightful cross was met at the back post by Zack Herbison giving the keeper no chance, leaving the half time score 2-0.

Northend cut loose in the second period firstly when Zack Herbison was brought down in the box and up stepped Conor Graham to blast the ball home before Maybin swung in a great corner for Sam Bennett to score at the near post.

More great passing led to Northend's fifth goal, with Ryan McKenna playing the ball up to David Kilgore who rolled it to Philip Maybin to fire past the keeper from the edge of the box.

Another great move, this time Conor Graham to Zack Herbison who slipped it through to David Kilgore and he gave the keeper no chance.

Maybin set Herbison on his way for another when he outpaced the defence and rolled it by the outrushing keeper.

Ben Sempey was next to get in on the act when his excellent cross was only parried into the net by the unfortunate keeper. David Kilgore scored United's ninth goal when he outmuscled the defence and slipped it by the keeper to complete Northend's best team performance of the year.

UNDER-13

Northend 0, Whitehead 4: Twenty minutes into the game and Whitehead counter attacked and broke free against Krystian Yaworski, in the Northend net, who was unlucky not to save it.

Late in the first half Whitehead struck again in similar fashion to their first goal leaving the score at 0-2 at half time

The second half started much like the first but Whitehead again struck with another counter attack and managed to score their third, when the Northend defence was caught out of position and the east Antrim side added a fourth late on. MOM – Krystian Jaworski and Harry Kilgore

UNDER-15

Aquinas 3, Northend 0: Northend rued not converting some excellent first half chances when, firstly, they fell behind five minutes before the break.

Ten minutes after the restart, Aquinas scored their second goal after ten minutes when another mistake in the Northend defence allowed their striker in to beat Little in goals.

Aquinas completed their scoring right on full time to leave the score 3-0 in a match where Northend might have had a point but for some sloppy defending. MOM - Dylan Little.

MINI SOCCER ACADEMY

The acclaimed Northend United Mini Soccer Academy continues on Wednesday 6th October at Ballymena North Centre, 6.45-8.15pm. This lasts for a period of ten weeks before a winter break and then recommences for similar duration towards the end of January.
