It was Ryan Gault who grabbed all the headlines, scoring a hat-trick of goals before going into nets for the penalty shootout and eventually turning Limavady’s sixth penalty around the post, to give the Blues a moral boosting win.

The Blues now play League Leaders, Ballinamallard in a semi-final clash on Thursday night 16th May.

Elsewhere, in the Belfast and East Antrim League, the U12s and U13s lost their respective matches against Newington and Antrim Rovers Colts in typical end of the season fixtures.

On Friday night the Football Development Centre continued at its Ballymena North venue while a team of U8s also travelled to play in the Ballymoney United Mini Soccer Friendship League.

To end the week off, Northend had a team of P2s in the annual McDonalds Mini Soccer Competition at the Ballymena Showgrounds on Saturday, winning one game and drawing four, in a very enthusiastically contested tournament despite the terrible weather
conditions.
