Silverware eludes Carniny Youth sides in finals

AS the season draws to a close, only three Carniny Youth teams were in action last Saturday with the Under 8s, 9s and 11s all playing in cup finals.

Unfortunately there would be no silverware returning to Ballymena this weekend after the joy of the Under 12s winning the Lord Mayors Cup the previous Saturday. All three lost out to their cup final opponents, Ballymoney Utd YA and Glentoran Academy.

The clubs youngest players got their first taste of action when the club fielded two teams of P2 age players in the Ballymena Invitational Mini Soccer league.

The Under 11s also returned this week from a week long trip to Portugal where they had the opportunity to play some tournament football against teams such as Benfica.

NIGHT AT THE RACES

The club’s Under 12s will be hosting a night at the races on Saturday 8th June at Michelin Athletic club, Woodside Road, Ballymena.

The team are raising funds for their forthcoming appearance at the Foyle cup. Action gets underway at 8pm and all are welcome to come along and support the event.

There will also be a raffle on the night with a Sir Alex Ferguson autographed Manchester United Shirt as well as a Liverpool shirt autographed by Liverpool legend, Alan Kennedy.
