It was an amazing performance from this group, who led twice before being pegged back by a dertermined Glens side.

They held their nerve to delight the packed Showgrounds 3G which was awash with a sea of proud mums and dads.

United started well and took the lead through ace marksman Matthew Lorimer who fired in from the left, the ball just about sliding in at the far post.

Back came the Glens but William Crockard was having a stormer in goals, a prelude to his later heroics.

The boys from the East capitalised on United failing to clear and it was level.

Soon after a great through ball sent Lorimer away as the large crowd held its breath.

The Ahoghill boy kept his cool and lobbed the keeper brilliantly to restore the advantage.

The Glens were the better side in the second period, United defending very deep at times and inviting the pressure onto them it seemed.

A corner was brilliantly headed home for 2-2 and through extra time the teams could not be separated.

Into the dreaded penalties and Bradley McCartney fired home confidently to start proceedings.

It then became the William Crockard show as the United stopper pulled off two brilliant saves leaving the Glens needing to score with their last effort.

It went wide which was the cue for a pitch invasion, plenty of smiles and definitely some tears.

It was a marvellous achievement for the under 11s and their coaches now officially the province’s number one as they continue their development through the Sky Blue Academy.
