Whilst the Coaching days were aimed primarily at Carniny Youth players from age 5 right up to Under 19 level, the sessions were open to all local players regardless of club and many took up the opportunity with some travelling from Belfast and Coleraine to name a few areas outside the Borough.

Over a two day period each age group had a two hour coaching session with the Sunderland based coaches and they also provided a Coach education evening for Carniny Youth coaches on one of the evenings.

This was the first joint venture between the two clubs which started with a Visit for the Under17 squad earlier this year and it looks to have set firm foundations with plans already afoot to bring teams over from Sunderland to play Carniny Youth teams with Carniny players also to be invited across to the next open trial days in the North East.

The new session will cater for children born in the years 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008. The club particularly welcome applications for children born in 2011 and although there may be some spaces available for those born in, 2009 and 2008, but spaces maybe limited.

This is an excellent opportunity for local children who are starting out in football with Coerver Coaching Ulster Director, Austin Speight acting as lead coach at every session with Carniny Coaches also in attendance. The first session will take place over a ten week period (23rd Sept) and will take place at an indoor venue on Monday evenings with ‘games’ days on a Saturday.

If anyone wishes to enrol their child they should contact the club as soon as possible to secure a place. Please contact Linda Boyd on 07788548780. Alternatively contact via email [email protected]. There will be a information meeting with host Coach Austin Speight on Monday 7th Sept for all those enrolling for the sessions.

NEW SEASON BEGINS

The new season began last Saturday for the club when the Under14s were in action at Mallusk in the first game of their 2015/16 season in the NIBFA National League at Mallusk. Unfortunately it wasn’t a winning start for Jason Hunter’s boys who lost out to Irish League Academy side, Cliftonville.
