The hugely popular Ballymena Invitational Mini Soccer League continued on Saturday with the P4 age group in action.

A large crowd of parents and friends enjoyed the fine weather conditions as they turned out in force to atch the latest round of games in the annual competition.

Matches ere played in bright sunshine on the 3g surface at Ballymena Showgrounds.

Numbers were slightly down on usual due largely to the fact that the North West 200 was taking place at the same time but five teams took part in the tournament.

Special guests were Michael McClean from the Irish Football Association and Ballymena United Chairman John Taggart, who presented the medals to the competing teams.

This year’s competition will be the 16th year of the hugely popular initiative, which has given a first grounding in team football to several youngsters who have gone on to play at a higher level in their footballing careers.

This Saturday, May 21, will see the P5 age group take their turn starting at 2pm, again at the Warden Street venue.
