SML round-up: Stand-in keeper saves twice in shootout in Raceview Shield win

STAND-in keeper Mark Reid emerged as an unlikely hero as third division Raceview Athletic triumphed in an extraordinary County Antrim Junior Shield tie.

Having donned the gloves after regular number one Nathan Calderwood was sent off, Reid saved two penalties in a shoot out as Philip McBurney’s side eliminated Wesley from the competition after a remarkable 5-5 draw.

Elsewhere, a number of BSML sides progressed in the same competition as the league looks to put in a strong performance in the Shield following the infamous ‘final that never was’ debacle last season.
