‘Teatime League’ back for second helping!

THE hugely successful ‘Teatime League’ organised and run by Carniny Amateur & Youth FC will return for another season in October.

This is thanks to the support of Ballymena Borough Council and the Irish Football Association who have made the project an official Games Development Centre and have pledged to assist with the project at both sessions before and after Xmas.

Club Secretary Billy O’Flaherty commented: “We are delighted that our efforts in introducing this popular initiative have been recognised by Ballymena Borough Council by their support and by the Irish FA who are including the ‘Tea Time league’ in it’s ‘Football Games Development Centre’ programme which is a key component of the IFA’s Grassroots Development Strategy and provides boys and girls, aged between 6 and 12 the opportunity to play football regardless of ability.

“This fits well as a progression on from our Football Development Centre that is already an IFA accredited Football ‘Skills’ Development Centre.”

The event which is by invitation only is restricted to eight teams each night of competition and runs for eight evenings from 5/10/12 to 23/10/12 inclusive and 1/2/13 to 22/3/13 from 6pm to 7pm.

The TT league has received rave reviews throughout the borough and beyond and was given favourable reviews at the Ballymena Borough Council Sports Awards.

It is hoped that taking part this season will again be our friends from Star United, Coaching For Christ, Chimney Corner, Ballymoney United and BUFC Youth Academy.

The club are considering inviting other sides into this under 9 competition and extending the competition times all dependent in the interest shown which will undoubtedly be high.
