Under-15s again prove star turns for Carniny Youth

Carniny Youth Under 15s were the club's headliners once again last weekend when they recorded their third win in three weeks.

Davy Parker’s boys overcame Enniskillen Rangers 5-2 and they will be hoping for another win when they take on another Fermanagh side this week, in the form of Ballinamallard Utd Youth at home.

The U10s also recorded another win up in Coleraine, their second in a row against Ballymoney Colts. The U12s bowed out of the NIBFA Cup after a narrow defeat to a strong Lisburn Youth side with the U14s losing out to a late goal in their 2-3 loss to Derry colts in the National League. The U13s had nothing to show for their efforts losing out to Antrim Rovers. The U19s suffered a heavy defeat to their League leaders, Ballinamallard.

Last Saturday saw Carniny Amateur and Youth FC commence their latest session of their Football Development Centre at St Louis Grammar School. The sessions are open to all children, BOYS and GIRLS born in 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008.

There is still time for players to enrol for those who missed the first week. Players have the option of attending both the Saturday Morning sessions, which will be held at St Louis Grammar School and Monday evening sessions which is a Coerver Coaching Training night hosted by Austin Speight of Coerver Coaching Ulster at Cambridge House School or just attending a Monday or Saturday session. GIRLS COACHING

Last week also saw the club host its first FREE girls coaching taster sessions on Wednesday evening at Ballymena Showgrounds 3G. The sessions saw a good turn out with girls there from age 5 right up to age 15!

Carniny U9s continued this week with two teams again in action in the IFA SSGs at the showgrounds against sides from Ballymena and Northend.

UNDER-10

Carniny Youth 5, Ballymoney Colts 3: Carniny took an early lead through C Clarke but then trailed to two Ballymoney goals before McPeake levelled.

The same player scored again two minutes later and then R Clarke’s defelcted effort made it 4-2 at half-time.

Ballymoney again cut the gap to 4-3 but near the end, Bell clinched victory with Carniny’s fifth goal.

Carniny Youth 1, Lisburn Youth 2: Carniny once more gave themselves an uphill challenge allowing Lisburn an early two goal advantage.

With five minutes remaining, Fletcher found some space and ran down at the Lisburn goal squeezing the ball past the Lisburn keeper to set up an exciting last period. Both teams continued to press but in the end the score line wasn’t to change.

UNDER-13

Carniny Ypith 2, Antrim Rovers 4: Carniny took the lead through Logan after 10 minutes but were pegged back when the ball broke into the path of the Rovers forward to level and Antrim led 2-1 at the break thanks to a stunning volley.

Carniny conceded a penalty early in the second half only for the Antrim player to put the spot kick wide of the target but the visitors did extended their lead to 3-1 soon afterwards.

Gregg’s goal for Carniny pulled the score back to 3-2 and after Carniny had appeals for a penalty waved away, Antrim broke and scored a clinching fourth goal.

UNDER-14

Carniny Youth 2, Derry City Colts 3: New signing Mooney opened the scoring for Carniny when he used his blistering pace to latch onto a long ball and rifle it into the roof of the net but Derry then had a bit of luck when McNicholl’s save cannoned off his own defender and crept into the net to make it 1-1.

Substitute Butler who made an immediate impact when he got Carniny’s second with a great half volley that the keeper could only get his fingers tips to making it 2-1 at the break.

With the breeze behind them, Derry equalised before winning the game thanks to a wind-assisted 25-yard free kick with three minutes left.

UNDER-15

Carniny Youth 5, Enniskillen Rangers 2: Carniny opened the scoring after five mins. Patchett’s free kick was saved and Ryan Lorimer nicked in to tap home from close range.

Carniny added another soon after with a delicate chip from Tom Patchett which gave the keeper no chance. But Carniny eased off the pressure and Rangers pulled two goals back to be level at the break.

Carniny regained the lead 10 minutes into the second half when McDonald whipped a free kick in which was met by a good save and Matthew Kirk was there to finish off the rebound.

Carniny added a fourth with a nice through ball from Campbell found Chad Shaw and his shot flew in past the Rangers keeper.

As Rangers began to tire Carniny added a fifth with some great footwork from Eamon McAllister weaved past defenders and around the keeper to roll the ball home.

Carniny Youth 0, Ballinamallard Utd III 7: After conceding three goals to set pieces in the first 20 minutes this game was all but over against the NIFL Youth League leaders, who added a fourth just before the break.

The second half saw a slight improvement from Carniny but silly mistakes saw them concede needlessly.
