In the second half, Carniny scored again with a lovely free kick from Cameron Moag which gave the keeper no chance.

Glendowan pulled two goals back to level the score before. Rhys Hemphill weaved his way into the box only to be brought down for a penalty.

The same man stepped up to take it himself only for the keeper to bring off a good save and Glendowan edged themselves in front.

UNDER-15

Carniny Youth 8, Institute 1: It was the return of Scullion who broke his thumb earlier in the season that got Carniny off to the perfect start with a goal inside the first five minutes from a corner.

Carniny had to wait until well into the half before James McDonnell played a lovely weighted ball into Eoghan Daly who turned quickly and finished expertly in the far top corner. Seaan Elliott added Carniny’s third just before the half time whistle.

The second half saw Institute come at Carniny and when O’Brien miskicked his clearance inside the first minutes to allow Institute to pull a goal back. But this only spurred Carniny on and Bailie Young soon restored Carniny’s three goal lead with Seaan Elliott getting his second and Carniny’s fifth soon after.

Elliott completed his hat-trick with another typical cool finish but Carniny’s seventh was the pick off the bunch. Bailie Young got the ball just inside the Institute half out wide on the right and beat his marker to give himself a free run but stayed out wide and let one go which flew over the keeper and into the net when most thought it was going out.

Cathair Henderson got Carniny’s eighth when he drove at the Institute defence and let fly catching the inside of the post and nestled nicely in the back off the net.

Carniny: O’Brien, McDonnell, Henderson, Downey, Scullion, Carley, Marshall, Little, Young, Daly, Elliott, Leetch, McCann, Evans.

UNDER-17

Carniny Youth 1, Coleraine Academy 2: AFter a scoreless first half, Carniny fell behind before Tyrone Balmer scored from an acute angle.

But with two minutes remaining, a Coleraine player ran from what Carniny felt was an offside position to place his shot past Marquess for the winning goal.

Carniny: Marquess, Calderwood, Hart, Cochrane, McComb, Price, Johnston, O’Mullan, Hagan, Balmer, Millar, Doherty, Jaworski, Burns, McKernan, Killough.
