Under-strength Wakehurst bow out of cup

WAKEHURST bowed out of a second cup competition in successive weeks as they lost 5-0 to Limavady United in the Craig Memorial North West Cup.

The competition is the North West FA equivalent of the Steel and Sons Cup, from which Wakehurst were excluded due to the fact their registered home ground is at Moyola Park, and therefore outside the jurisdiction of the County Antrim FA.

Like last week's Co-Operative Insurance Cup defeat by Larne, Wakehurst found Championship One opposition too strong, especially as Ian Gregg's men were once again under-strength, fielding several inexperienced members of their reserve team, Wakehurst Strollers.

Gregg will be hoping to have a more experienced line-up available this Saturday as they put their 100 per cent league record on the line when they entertain Armagh City at Mill Meadow, Castledawson (3pm).
