United drawn away to Linfield in Irish Cup

Glenn Ferguson’s side will travel to Linfield in the fifth round tie on Saturday, January 9, after the teams were paired together in this morning’s draw.

It could be the first in a potential double-header of knockout games between the sides with United awaiting the winners of the outstanding County Antrim Shield semi-final between Linfield and Carrick Rangers in the final on January 12.

Ballymena have reached the final and semi-final of the Irish Cup in the past two seasons.

In the same competition, Wakehurst have also been handed a tough away draw - they travel to Shamrock Park to face Portadown.
