The winger sustained the injury in an accidental collision during Saturday’s 4-2 Danske Bank Premiership win over Warrenpoint Town but completed the full 90 minutes.

However, X-rays revealed the extent of the injury and the former Ards player now faces a spell on the sidelines over the busy festive period.

“It’s a bad blow for Willie and for us,” manager Glenn Ferguson told Times Sport.

“He has been in good form in recent weeks and he has scored a couple of important goals.

“When you play 4-4-2 a lot of what the wide players do goes unnoticed but Willie has been making a big contribution.

“It’s hard stepping up from the Championship to the Premier League and that sort of intensity every week but he has done well,” added Ferguson.
