United U-13s produce top display against Ballinamallard

Ballymena United under 13’s continue to be the form team at the United Academy with yet another six goal show, this time against Ballinamallard at Broughshane.

The 12’s chalked up another tidy win in Lisburn while the 14’s in the same league were unlucky in a much improved display. The 11’s suffered defeat in Coleraine but were cheered slightly by a brilliant hat trick for Clough starlet Jordan McMullan.

At the Showgrounds the mini soccer school continued with upwards of 100 children in attendance once more in fine weather

UNDER-12

Bertie Peacocks U-12 8, BUYA U-11 3: In this mixed age group league,the older Bertie side looked stronger and hungrier throughout and were clinical with their finishing.

Lewis Cleaver in goals again pulled off some great saves and the United goals came from a brilliant hat trick for Jordan McMullan.

BUYA U12 4, Loughgall 0: After last week’s first defeat of the season this was a good confidence booster for the National champions.

UNDER-13

BUYA 6, Ballinamallard 1: United took the lead through Rhys Hemphill who collected, looked up and fired in a terrific looping shot over the keeper and into the net 1-0.

The same player scored on 20 minutes when the ball was played to the striker who was outside the box, turned and again struck a sweet shot sending the ball dipping into the back of the net.

Ballimallard pulled a goal back from the penalty spot early in the second half but less than three minutes later Ballymena restored the two goal lead when Sean McKay controlled the ball and slotted a low shot past the oncoming keeper.

Aidan Gillan’s hard work earned the fourth when he chased what seemed a lost cause, and when a defender miskicked, the wide man chipped the keeper.

Gillan scored United’s fifth with a wonderful overhead kick which went in off the post.

Scott Marcus completed the scoring when he let fly from 25 yards the ball rifling home.

UNDER-14

BUYA 2, Glenavon 3: United went three nil down before two efforts from Jack O’Mahony and Callum Smith reduced the deficit but the equaliser would not come.

BUYA 3, GReenisland 6 (Lisburn League): There was nothing in this game for long periods but a couple of defensive lapses let the Greenisland boys in to increase their lead.

UNDER-15

BUYA 10, Magherafelt 0: This friendly was a chance for United to play a number of new signings who were outstanding on the day for the Braid boys.

UNDER-16

Ballymena United 6, Ballymoney 0: Ballymena got off to a dream start when they took the lead early on when Nico Dunlop raced onto a through ball and slotted past the advancing goal keeper.

Ballymena got their second of the game when Camryn Millar headed home a Benji Agnew corner.

Ballymena extended their lead when Sam Cummings pressured the Ballymoney defence into a mistake and Nico Dunlop drove the loose ball past the keeper.

Nico completed his hat-trick when Matthew Walker found him in space in the box.

United scored their fifth after excellent work by Benji Agnew down the left found Camryn Millar who gave the keeper no chance. Just before the final whistle Ballymena scored their 6th when Matthew Sheerin scored with a long range shot.
