The result of the day goes to the Under 14 Development Squad who secured their first win of the season against Hillsborough in the Lisburn League.

The Under 12s continued their winning ways against Lurgan Town in the National League while the Under 15s saw their match abandoned as a result of a nasty injury to Goal Keeper Owen Best.

The club’s Mini Soccer Academy goes into the last two weeks before taking its winter break.

Two 2006 birthday teams from Academy continue to take part in the Small Sided Games Centre in Ballymoney on Friday nights while the 2005 teams will start their Small Sided Games Centre this Friday night at the Ballymena Show Grounds.

UNDER-12

BUYA 2, Lurgan Town 1: A cagey start to the match saw Ballymena come out of the blocks a bit slow and unable to get the free flowing passing going that they love to do. It was a tight game with both teams creating little chances.

But with 20min gone Lurgan opened the scoring, Taking advantage of a slow to react united back line.

However the Braid boys bounced back five minutes later with a great run and cross by Matthew Lorimer picking out Bradley McCartney on the edge of the box, who laid the ball on to Jacob Logan, ending the move with a great strike into the back of the net.

With only 12 minutes left the Sky Blues finally found the net from a great piece of play. A good through pass just outside the box by Sean McAllister found the feet of Cameron Bailes. With fantastic close control footwork, Cameron weaved himself an opening to slot the ball in the net from close range.

UNDER-14

BUYA 5, Hillsborough 4: Gary McMordie’s boys displayed an improved passing game with Leon Carley and Ethan McKeown pulling the strings in the middle of the park.

Up front Jake Johnston put in a tireless shift and did not give the hard working Hillsborough defence a rest throughout the game.

The goals came from Robbie Bamber, Ethan McKeown, Jake Johnston and two from Leon Carley to leave Manager McMordie very pleased with the team performance.

The excellent result sets the standard for this group of players and more performances like this will see the team pick up more points as the season develops.

UNDER-15

BUYA 0, Institute 2 (match abandoned due to injury): Andy Logan’s Under 15s played their match against Institute in tough conditions on Saturday afternoon at the Show Grounds.

They went one nil down before a nasty head injury to Goalkeeper Owen Best in the lead up to the second Institute goal caused the match to be abandoned.

Everyone involved with the club wishes Owen a speedy recovery and we hope to see him back in the near future.
