Ballymena United manager Glenn Ferguson believes referee Colin Burns “made a mistake” in sending off defender Johnny Taylor in Tuesday night’s Danske Bank Premiership defeat against Cliftonville.

Ferguson believed that the dismissal of Taylor - for what the referee adjudged to be denying Joe Gormley an obvious goalscoring opportunity - changed the complexion of the match.

United will now be without the suspended Taylor for Saturday’s crunch Irish Cup game at Linfield.
