Wakehurst’s final friendly games before season starts

It was a busy final week of pre season for Wakehurst as they had two freindly games.

Last Tuesday they had a comfortable victory over Maghera Strollers.

It was a tight first half with goalkeeper Marc perhaps keeping the local side in it.

However in the second half Wakehurst upped the tempo and ran out comfortable 4-0 winners with goals from Lee McCaughern, Andy Laughlin and a brace from Jordan Foster.

The final game of this pre-season period was against Crusdaders Reserves at Millmeadow. Wakehurst coasted into a 3-0 lead with goals from Jordan Foster, Lee McCaughern and Karl Steele.

While Macauley Cairns pulled off a fantastic double save from a Crusaders penalty.

Second half was different story with Crues controlling more of the play pulling two goals back to ensure a nervy finish. However they Wakehurst held on for a 3-2 win.

Wakehurst have enjoyed a successful pre-season campaign, with player recruitment at forefront of proceedings.

The management team will oversee final preparations as they look to their first of the season which is away to Portstewart. Staff have been impressed with the players during the pre-season as they have applied themselves throughout but this is the first game where points are at stake.
