Wet weather puts paid to Carniny Youth matches

CARNINY Youth players hoping to get their last game in before Christmas were left disappointed last Saturday when all three of the club’s scheduled games were unfortunately called off due to waterlogged pitches.

However the Under 11s will be looking forward to a festive derby match against BUFC YA on home soil when the pair meet this Saturday in the Lisburn Youth League.

January will see four teams from the club in NIBFA Cup action with the Under 11s playing Oxford Utd Stars, the 12s playing Glentoran, 13s Rathfriland Youth and the 14s playing Ballymoor.

The Christmas break will give time for the club to look back on the first half of the season which has been relatively successful for the club.

The Under 11s currently playing in the Lisburn Youth League, are sitting well up the table keeping pressure on their league leaders, Lisburn Youth. The Under 12s are sitting top of their division in the George Best Youth League, unbeaten in all their games to date.

The Under 13s are relishing the weekly challenges in playing in the top division of their age group in the National League. The Under 14s and 15s are also enjoying playing in their respective divisions in the National League.

The National League has become more interesting for local clubs this year with three teams from Ballymena now playing in the Leagues with BUFC YA and North End following Carniny by introducing their teams to the league, exposing their players to some of the best teams in the Province which can only be good for the development of all Ballymena based players.
