Worthington named as York City boss

NIGEL Worthington is back in football as the new manager of York City.

The Ballymena man has been named as the new boss of the struggling English League Two side.

Worthington has been out of football since October 2011, when he stepped down after four years in charge of the Northern Ireland international side.

Previously, he enjoyed a successful spell in charge of Norwich City, while during his time in charge of the national team, he often spoke of missing the day-to-day involvement of club football.

A York City statement said Worthington’s appointment was “based on his Football League experience, strong coaching ability and extensive knowledge of players throughout the leagues”.
