The first half was nip and tuck with the visitors actually out-scoring St Comgalls with six points but thanks to a goal from Mairead McAuley the home side went in honours even at the break (1-3 v 0-6).

In the second half though Naomh Comhghall really clicked into gear, and the pressure told with Niamh Callan accurate from the dead-ball with frees from the resulting fouls. St Teresa’s didn’t retreat though and kept pressing but the defensive efforts of Eimear O’Hara at half back and her colleagues on the full-backline, Eimear Smith, Roisin Courtney & Siobhan McQuillan kept the damage to a minimum. Amanda Riddel found her stride in the second half winning a lot of scrappy ball from her half-forward berth, and to her right Shannon O’Sullivan also delivered a strong performance. Fiona Poulter put in typical effort, and was rewarded with a point.

Mairead McAuley’s addition to the panel this year has been a real boost and her athletic ability helped her widen the margin to 38 to 0-9 with a couple of second half goals.
