Four-way battle on last night for second division title

The Ballymena, Harryville and District Darts League, sponsored by Mid Antrim Blinds, saw the first division title decided on Friday with Drifters securing yet another crown following a 6-2 win.

The second division however, could still be won by four different teams, best of luck to all this week.

Best individual performance this week was a 15-dart leg from Darnell McCrory, followed by: 16s Geoff Wylie, Rodney Cubitt, 17s Ryan Esler, Tam Jameson, 18s John Elder, Stephen Haggen x2, Davy Martin, John Robinson, Shane Hillis, Leonard McKeegan, 19s John Elder, Ryan Esler, Davy Martin, 20s Darnell McCrory, Stevie McIlroy x2, 21 Paddy Coyles, Glenn Gilmour.

Glenn Gilmour (BT/PO) had the week’s best finish with a 108, while John Robinson (The DIamond) checked out on 100.

Davy Martin (The Diamond) hit the week’s only 180.

DIVISION ONE

Michelin 2, Drifters 6: Despite this defeat, Michelin keep their hopes of survival alive with 2 hard earned points from Norman Kerr (2-1) and Clifford Marcus (2-0). Drifters retained their title with 1 game to spare with wins from John Elder (2-0), Stephen Haggen (2-0), Darnell McCrory (2-0), Geoff Wylie (2-0), Ryan Esler (2-0) and Alan Bamford (2-1). Star player - Darnell McCrory.

The Diamond 5, DIamond Bar 3: The Diamond made sure of runners-up spot with the five points they needed. Diamond Bar will avoid relegation with a draw in their final game. The Diamond winners this week were Ryan Gault (2-0), Colin Reid (2-0), Davy Martin (2-1), John Robinson (2-0) and Denis Gault (2-0). Diamond Bar had wins came from Rodney Cubitt (2-0), Derek Connor (2-1) and Geoff McIlveen (2-0). Star player - Davy Martin.

BT/PO 4, Greenhills 4: BT/PO will be disappointed having been 4-1 up, but credit to Greenhills who fought back well to earn the draw. BT/PO - Alan Service (2-0), Glenn Gilmour (2-0), Tam Jameson (2-0) and Shane Hillis (2-0). Greenhills winners this week were Paddy Coyles (2-0), Gabe Kerr (2-0), Leonard McKeegan (2-1) and Stevie McIlroy (2-0). Star player - Stevie McIlroy.

Ladysmith Arrows 3, Spinning Mill 5: The second division is now a 4 horse race however Spinning Mill may be disappointed they didn’t gain an extra point or 2. Well done Stephen Purdon (2-0), Davy Wilson (2-0) and Irene Lowry (2-0) with the Arrows’ wins. Spinning Mill wins came from John Greer (2-0), Chris Greer (2-0), Sammy Balmer (2-1), Stewart McClelland (2-0) and Danny Balmer (2-0). Star player - Danny Balmer.
