Galgorm Castle ladies’ section looks back on busy summer

The Lady members of Galgorm Castle Golf Club recently held their Summer Prizegiving Dinner.

The event was attended by a large section of the lady membership, together with a number of their competition sponsors, including Libis McAllister from Ultimate in Fashion and Sarah Simpson of Simpson’s Pharmacy.

Among the Prizes awarded on the night were the Fortescue Boot which went this year to Pauline Thom, The Dessie O’Kane Cup which was won by Kerry Dunlop and the Fitzsimmons Trophy which went to Elaine Fitzsimmons and Judy Watson.

Also presented were the Silver Medal, for the four best scores in stroke competitions in 0-20 handicap Section, which went to Pauline Thom, the Bronze Medal, for best four scores in stroke in the 21-36 section, which was won by Jenny McCooke and the Breakthrough Brooch, for the best score in the September stroke competition, which also went to Jenny McCooke.

In the Summer Ringer competition, Section A honours went to Caroline Speers, Section B to Angela Graham and Section C to Julie Murray. The winner of the Birdie Tree competition was Caroline Speers.

The evening culminated in the announcement of the winner of Player of the Year which was Debbie McCooke for the second year in a row and the winner of the Silver Quaich which was Ann McGuckian.

The winners of the club Mixed Foursomes competition were also announced and they were Julie Ann Kyle and Stephen Bashford.
