Gardiner Cup honours are shared

BALLYMENA Road Club – Chain Reaction Cycles – held their Gardiner cup 10 miles time trial at Woodgreen on Wednesday evening.

The heavy rain which had been falling all day cleared away about an hour before the start and this left conditions near perfect for time trialling.

Ryan Currie continues to impress and he was fastest in the club section with 21 minutes 53 seconds which was his best club 10 outing since 2005. Connor Young had a personal best 22 minutes 04 seconds, which beat his previous best 10 miles time by 1 minute 43 seconds; Tommy Wilson was third with 22.48.

Emma Smyth also beat her personal best time by 1 minute 43 seconds and this meant that she and Connor Young were equal first in the handicap section and will share the Gardiner cup.
