Above-par display from Brian at Raceview

The Tullymore Cup has adorend the trophy cabinet at Raceview for many years and always seems to attract a high standard of scoring.

This year proved to be no different with winner Brian Reynolds recording an excellent score of eight up on par.

With competitors having the assistance of ‘lift and drop’, 22-handicapper Reynolds opened his round with four pars in the opening six holes, putting him in a strong position. aternine holes he had scored six plusses, one minus and the other two holes halved.

The back nine accounted for five plusses, two minuses and the other two holes halved for a total of eight up on par.

Second place went to Nigel Douglas who, with a shot on each hole, posted a score of seven up, four of which came on the front nine.

John V Graham produced a card of six up on par.

He was four up after nine and then had four plusses, three halves and minuses at the 16th and 18th.

The next three places were all taken with a score of five up and Laurie Windle (24) came fourth having had a better last six hole score from John G Montgomery.

Windle’s card had eight plusses, three minuses with the other seven holes halved.

Montgomery (25) recorded nine plusses, four minuses and fve halves for his five up total.

he had a better second nine from Chris McCrory (12) who scored nine plusses, four minuses plus five halves for his five up total.

The best gross card came from Dermot McElroy (+4) who would have broken the course record, only for the winter rules being applied.

Dermot played the 18 holes with eight birdies and in total, he had 10 threes, six fours, one five plus a two on the 10th which amounted to a gross score of 61 shots.
