Candlish comes out on top in latest competition at Galgorm

After the fourth in Division 1 Owen Smith playing off three was leading by one point from George Small (4) who in turn was another point ahead of Candlish (3), Steven Penney (1) and David Keys (4).

Candlish after a birdie at the Lowlands joined Smith (par) and Small (par) with Penney and Keys a point behind. Candlish finished with another birdie to win by one point from Smith (par). Penney (par), Keys (par) and Small (bogey) finished together a point behind the placed players. Penney won the Gross.

In Division 2 John McCarley (7) opened briskly with three pars and a birdie to take a two point lead over Jonathan Keys (7) and Neil Fitzsimmons (6) after four. Afurther point behind came Richard Lennox (8) and Rod Lennox (5).

Over the next three holes McCarley,s lead had disappeared when he was joined by Keys and Fitzsimmons with the Lennox brothers another two points behind.

Keys took a one point lead at the Lowlands over Fitzsimmons (bogey) and McCarley (bogey). Keys bogeyed the last hole but held on to win by one point from Richard Lennox who finished bogey, par over the closing two holes.

Jim Millar (9), Colin Orr (9), Trevor Fletcher (8) and Alan Proctor (8) – were vying for the lead in Division 3 through four, a point ahead of Samuel Graham (9). A birdie, bogey, par run by Millar and a bogey and two pars from Orr over the next three holes enabled them to move into a two point lead over Graham. Millar continued his fine run and came home par, bogey to win by three points from Orr (bogey, ‘ding’) in second.

After 4 in Division 4 Samuel MacDonald (10) was one point ahead of Harold Stafford (12) followed by George Irwin (14) another point behind. MacDonald held his one point advantage over Stafford who was joined by Irwin with two to play. MacDonald went two points clear at the penultimate hole and all three players double bogeyed the last to leave MacDonald the winner by two points from Irwin (better last six) in second place.
