Sean McElroy, playing off a handicap of 11, played the Raceview course in one over par gross, which equated to nett score of 58.

Sean’s first nine holes were made up of four pars, two bogeys plus birdies at the third, sixth and ninth, which was equal to one under gross.

His second nine opened with a birdie and he had another of those 13, as well as adding three pars and four bogeys for a score of two over gross to help him pass the magical ‘sub-60’ barrier.

Three shots behind McElroy came Robert Doey (14), but he in turn had finish clear of third-placed James Drennan, after a round of seven under his handicap.

Club captain Drennan (13) had an overall score of five under, which would have been even better but for a triple bogey on the par four 15th, but he still had a shot to spare over the next three places.

The first of those was filled by Ferguson McKelvey (10) who has had a very steady season, figuring among the prizewinners on a number of occasions.

He finished his round with six straight pars which proved telling as it pushed Clifford Anderson (13) into fifth position over the last three holes.

He in turn pushed Christopher Magee (5) into sixth position by virtue of a better back nine, after both players had nett 64s.

Michael McGarry claimed the best gross prize as the four-handicapper completed his round in three under par, 65 strokes.

After a slow start to his round, Jamieson posted 19 points on each nine.

Robinson, playing off 19, had a good opening nine of 21 points but he couldn’t maintain that on the homeward stretch.

The best gross score came from one-handicapper who completed his round in four over par, 70 shots.
