Hockey ladies lose ‘derby’ tussle

BALLYMENA Seconds were left disappointed after Friday night’s ‘derby’ clash with Randalstown Seconds at Antrim Forum, after being defeated 2-0 against the the run of play.

Ballymena dominated the start of the first half and many chances were created in the circle but could not be converted.

These opportunities were squandered allowing Randalstown to fight back and by the end of the first half, the match was evenly contested with either team looking like winners.

Randalstown came for the second half fully charged. Ballymena fought hard, Aimee Logan dominated the left side of the pitch with strong tackling. Jessica Duncan and Catherine McCracken linked well together but their efforts were to no avail.

Unfortunately for the vistors, Randalstown took their chances in the circle and were victorious with two goals.

Ballymena should not be disheartened from their performance but with only a few league matches left, are in dire need of points on the league board to avoid relegation.

Seconds: Rebecca McCasndless, Debbie Campbell, Zoe Dickson, Grace McBurney, Nicola Greer, Jessica Duncan, Catherine McCracken, Natalie Rea, Sharon Reid, Sarah Cundell, Clare Gillespie, Aimee Logan, Lyndsey McClintock.
