Inbetweeners take another step towards first title

Inbetweeners moved another step closer to their first Ballymena Towers Pool League title last week.

The Minnesota Snooker Club-based side are seven points clear of nearest challengers Towers Tavern, who have played a game more. Last week’s results were:

Connolly’s ‘A’ 3, Michelin Masters 3: After Mark Campbell had put the home side ahead, Michelin hit back by winning the next three games without dropping a frame, through David Armstrong, Jimmy Knowles and Alan Armstrong. John McAllister pulled it back to 3-2 before Don McKeown earned a draw for the Dunvale side. POM - Don McKeown.

Diamond Dazzlers 2, Inbetweeners 4: The league leaders won the opening two games but only after Gary Ormandy and Lee Wright had each lost the opening frame.

Brendan O’Mullan notched Dazzlers’ first point, again wth a come-from-behind win, but Inbetweeners seized control through wins from Phil Houston and Paul Francey before Ian Boal earned a second point for the Portglenone side. POM - Paul Francey.

Towers Tavern 4, Meatballs 2: Wins from Drew Sloan and James Millar gave Towers a 2-0 lead before Ryan Foster halved the deficit for Meatballs.

David O’Neill restored the two game lead for Towers before Alan Davidson pulled another win back for Meatballs but KD Crabbe won the final game to keep the Ballee side in second spot. POM - David O’Neill.

Coach Bar 5, Mighty Moat 1: Coach won the first three games in straight frames through Clifford Allison, David Carlisle and Darren Gilmore. Paul Gray lost the first frame of his match but hit back to win 2-1 before David Gillespie took the match score to 5-0.

In the last game, Daniel Magill came from a frame down to prevent Moat from being whitewashed. POM - Paul Gray.

Fairhill Dreamers 3, Diamond Duffers 3: Ian Dewar gave Fairhill the lead but Matthew Peacock had a come-from-behind win to level the scores.

Sean Brannigan again put Dreamers in front, only for Ryan McCarroll to square the match for Duffers.

Diamond edged ahead for the first time through Steven McGaughey but Linzi McClelland secured a draw for Fairhill when she won after losing the opening frame. POM - Ian Dewar.

Fairhill Hustlers 4, Social CLub 2: Eddie Fleck gave Social Club the lead before Hustlers hit back with a vengeance, reeling off four straight frames wins through George McCullough, Richard Campbell, Ritchie Irwin and Robert Graham before Ross Hill notched a second point for Social Club.

The Ken Thornton Memorial pool tournament takes place in the Diamond Bar, Portglenone, on Saturday, April 4. Registration from 12 noon, play starts at 1pm. Entry fee - £5.
