The Tournament was won by Joe Beattie of Drumgor Bowling Club, in Portadown, who collected the Jim Richardson Memorial Shield.

He previously won in 2010 and becomes only the fourth person in the 25 year history of the competition to have won on more than one occasion!

Joe defeated Brendan Murphy of St Josephs BC, Poyntzpass in a closely fought final, triumphing 11-7 after 12 ends.

The match of the night was most probably at the semi final stage between Joe Beattie and Mid-Antrim’s David Morrison with the pair locked at all square entering the deciding end with Armagh Zone skip Beattie eventually coming out on top in a thrilling encounter.

David was the best of the Mid-Antrim performers. The First Ahoghill bowler has qualified for finals night on no less than eight occasions but his wait for the title goes on, having now lost twice in the semi-finals.

Over the eight nights, 245 players competed on the mats coming from across the 6 counties and as far away as Donegal.

Chairman Robert Chesney thanked all those who took part and all those who helped during each of the qualifying nights.

As always the Club supports a charity and treasurer Edmund McLarnon handed over a cheque for £300 to Pat Hamilton from the Randalstown Branch of Save the Children.

The Tournament was once again backed by long term sponsor Superseal Window Systems with support pledged again for the event next year!
