Juniors secure Bowling Club’s first trophy of season

Geoff Padget, Joe McKeown, Jimmy Larkin and David Torrington gradually increased their lead against N Irwin and eventually went on to win the contest by 21 shots to 14.

3 Alan McAuley, Arnold Kenny, Ivan Lynn and John Coulter’s game against N Belch was effectively decided over the 10th and 11th ends when the Ballymena rink conceded consecutive counts of 4 shots which helped give the Pickie rink a flattering 28-17 victory.

Allen Stewart, Neal Garrett, Michael Wilson and Roy Torrington were the big winners on the night with a convincing 29-12 win over N Henderson.

LEAGUE

Ballymena Juniors’ hopes of retaining the NIPGL Junior League Division 1 title more or less disappeared last week. Even though the Ballymena men had a good win at home to Willowfield they fell to a disappointing defeat at home on Saturday to title favourites Dunbarton.

Ballymena Juniors 73 Willowfield 49: Leslie Barr, Tommy Hill, Danny McCullough and George Graham made a great start against J Graham en route to winning 20-13.

Allen Stewart, Neal Garrett, Michael Wilson and Roy Torrington also settled down quickly against J Skinner and their good work in the early stages helped them to a 16-12 win.

Geoff Padget, Joe McKeown, Jimmy Larkin and David Torrington eventually got their noses in front again T Watson and went on to win 16-10.

Alan McAuley, Arnold Kenny, Ivan Lynn and John Coulter only took the lead against M Leckey for the first time after the halfway point but went on to win 21-14 victory.

Ballymena Juniors 60, Dunbarton 74:

Geoff Padget, Joe McKeown, Jimmy Larkin and David Torrington were edged out 16-14 in a close game by C Dennison.

Leslie Barr, Tommy Hill, Danny McCullough and George Graham lost seven ends out of eight in the middle of their game against F Larkin who won 23-14.

John McFall, Neal Garrett, Michael Wilson and Roy Torrington were always behind in a 21-13 defeat by J Kelly.

Alan McAuley, Arnold Kenny, Ivan Lynn and John Coulter produced a strong second half performance against R Gough to win 19-14.

This Saturday the Juniors play Downpatrick in the final of the Irish Junior Cup.
