Kincaid continues winning form as season concludes at Nutts Corner

The Antrim man started from pole position in the Grand National Championship with the former Irish and European champion Craig McConnell alongside.

Kincaid got away clean at the green however it wasn’t long before McConnell was offering a challenge, as the pair exchanged heavy blows Conor Hughes and Gordy McKee were gradually closing in and eventually joined the party.

A great four way battled raged for several laps up front until Kincaid broke free from the pack leaving Hughes, McConnell and the Irish Open champion Ryan McCrory to scrap for the remaining podium steps. At the flag Kincaid was well clear of Conor Hughes in second while McConnell emerged as the third place finisher after a fantastic last bend battle with McCrory.

A further 2 heat races concluded the F2 action at the raceway for 2015. Sean McFerran recorded a fine victory in heat 1 while his fortunes changed drastically in the final after a major crash in the opening laps which saw the aerofoil ripped of the 47 machine. Hughes was victor in heat rounding up a fine end to the season for the former Irish champion.

1300 STOCK CARS

Ryan Stewart captured the 1300 Stock Car Irish Crown in what was a sensational race from the off. Chris Hamill who started of pole position was soon removed from the lofty heights by Ivan Elliot who launched a committed and well calculated hit on the first corner, this triggered all kinds of carnage with several cars sidelined.

Curtis Greer had taken up the running out front with Ryan Stewart on tow, others such as Aaron Rainey, Elliot and Peter Greer were still in the chase also before yellows were required late in the race to remove Rainey’s stricken machine from river bend. As the cars lined up again with only a handful of laps remaining the tension was on the rise and a grandstand finish was imminent. Greer continued to head the field until the last lap when Stewart made his move calmly moving through on the inside to take the victory ahead of the long time leader Greer, Peter Greer drive a steady race to pick up the final podium place.

With the Irish titled settled all attention soon turned to the revenge race which come later in the programme. After another bruising affair and a dramatic last bend reshuffle Chris Hamill took the win crossing the line sideways, with C Greer and Anthony McIvor in close proximity.

NCR CHAMPIONSHIP

Mark Frew added another championship title to his weekend tally in the form of the NCR Stadium championship.

Frew was followed home by Johnny McCloy and his old stable mate Bobby Johnston. Colin Clifford picked up the flag in both the heat races that followed closing his season in style, Clifford a recent returnee to racing has shown great pace in the last weeks of the season and his sure to be a massive contender next term.

2L SALOONS

The former Irish champion Ryan Wright closed the domestic 2L Saloon season with a fine win in the lively meeting final. Father and son pairing Davy and Ryan Patton were the early pace setters in the final building up a healthy advantage while the star graders Kieran McIvor, Stuart McCammon, Wright and the Irish champion Anthony McIvor traded paint at the rear of the field.

Anthony was a casualty of the early onslaught finding himself spun around on the home straight. A mid race yellow suspension for debris on the race track saw the cars regroup on the back straight, which closed A McIvor back into the chase.

Wright made a text book start swiftly dealing with McCammon, K McIvor and R Patton to move through to the front. Wright completed the remaining ten laps to bag the victory well clear of A McIvor who fought back to second. Earlier on the race card A McIvor romped to a clear victory in the earlier heat race.

BRISCA MICRO F2S

The Brisca Micro F2’s were again on display in front of the large crowd with another good showing of the young stars in action. Jack Morrow was the star attraction recording wins in both the races with Tyler McClurkin the runner up. Others who featured well included Cathal McFerran in what was his first meeting in the class, Ava McCreight, Rhianna Murray and Lexi Crooks.

JUNIOR RODS

The recently crowned Junior Rod Irish and Stadium champion Antony Kincaid continued his winning streak securing wins in heat one and the meeting final only being denied a perfect hat trick by Anais McCreight who powered her Peugeot 106 to a convincing win in the second heat. Kincaid was joined on the podium by Jack Kennedy who was the gallant runner up and Matthew Drysdale.
