Sally Carson, Gladys Power, Barbara Burnett and Sarah Jane Coleman made an excellent start against V Witherow on rink 1 as they opened up a 10-1 lead after only 6 ends. Five shots on the next end gave the visitors a little hope and in fact with two thirds of the game played they had halved the advantage to only 3 shots. This however was a good as it got for the visitors as Coleman’s rink dominated the closing ends to run out victors by 19 shots to 11.

On rink 2 Eva Ferguson, Kathleen Hoey, Sile Garvey and Donna McCloy conceded 2 shots on the first end against J McClure but this just sparked the Braid ladies in to action. Two shots on the next end saw the Ballymena rink level the game and when they added another 15 unanswered shots to their total over the next 7 ends there was no way back for the visitors. The Braid rink eased up over the second period of the game but victory was never in doubt with the final score 21-11.

The closest game of the afternoon took place on rink 3 where Jean Rainey, Andrea McKeown, Pat Allen and Jennifer Dowds took on J Lindsay. The Braid foursome took an early 6 shot lead after 5 ends but 2 ends later the margin had been cut to a single shot. With 10 ends completed the Braid lead was now 5 shots but the visitors were hard to shake off and with 4 ends remaining the deficit was back to one shot. The Ballymena ladies however were not to be beaten and they outscored their opponents by 4 shots to 1 over the remaining ends to claim a hard fought victory by 16 shots to 12.

Jennie McCready, Marie Houston, Iris Millar and Barbara Cameron dropped 3 shots on the first end against M Montgomery on rink 5 however this was quickly rectified as they scored a total of 9 shots over the next 4 ends to take charge of the contest. Both rinks won 3 of the next 6 ends with the Ballymena ladies holding a 7 shot advantage. The Braid rink dominated the remaining ends and they more than doubled their lead to leave the final score 23-8.

Next week the Ladies travel to Portstewart
