McIvor lands Saloon Stock Golden Cup championship at Nutts Corner

2L Saloon prize winners at Nutts Corner Raceway.

Irish Champion Anthony McIvor placed himself on pole position after two brilliant drives from the rear of the grid to take the two wins in the qualifiers, with brother Kieran McIvor following suit in second place in both heats.

Newcomer to the class Daryl McCammon filling the podium positions in 3rd. McCammon got off to a brilliant start in the main race of the afternoon, gliding past the two McIvor brothers with ease until he was forced into a slight mistake.

Anthony McIvor took the win from brother Kieran and newcomer McCammon finishing 3rd.

BRISCA F2S

Dean McCrory got off to a flyer in the first race of the day for the BriSCA F2’s taking a well deserved victory over brother Ryan McCrory.

David Lilburn lead the second race from flag to flag with another very deserving, first ever victory in the category.

A caution period was called around half way as heat 1 winner Dean McCrory found himself rolling across the track to a halt after having his throttle stick wide-open and making heavy contact with the wall, although Lilburn kept his cool to make a break from the pack yet again.

The final found yet another victor, this time from Superstar Craig McConnell.

McConnell was well on the pace and seemed to have found what the others couldn’t, which was the fast way around the circuit in the rather tricky conditions. Conor Hughes and Ryan McCrory rounded out the top 3.

STOCK RODS

Lee Wylie set the ball rolling in the first Stockrod race of the day narrowly clinching the heat win from Kennedy.

Kennedy had tried on numerous occasions to make a move around the outside but unfortunately couldn’t make it stick.

Matthew McKinstry seemed to have found a bit of pace and recorded a long due win in the second race, with Kennedy trying a move around the outside but ‘slipped-up’ with a major slide out towards the wall losing him major places.

Kennedy bounced back in the final race of the day recording not only a win for the day but also taking away the silverware too.

Richard Purdy put another mark on the tally of wins for this season taking the opening heat win with a returnee to the class David Reynolds following close behind in second, with George Esler rounding out the top 3.

Karl Smyth was the man to beat in the second heat, with Esler going one better this time and following Smyth over the line in second with Matthew Curran popping up in 3rd.

It was Broughshane man Freddie Fleck who took the silverware, denying Karl a heat and final double, and yet again Davy Reynolds showing his pace in 3rd.
