McKinstry excels on international stage

The Glenwherry man represented Northern Ireland at the home countries X Country Championships staged in Falkirk at the weekend.

The Fit N Running athlete was up against the UK’s finest distance runners over a demanding 10k course and he rise to the challenge when he led the Northern Ireland team home in a time of 33mins 11secs to finish in 16th position.

Markhad no time to celebrate though as he flew straight home to begin preparations for his second international appearance in 8 days. Next up for Mckinstry is the home Countries Half Marathon Championships to be staged in Cardiff on Saturday.

The event is incorporated into the I.A.A.F. world Half Marathon Championships which will attract athletes from across the world.

CLUB TRAINING

Fit N Running weekly sessions and times are as follows:

Monday 615pm Recreational Run

Wednesday 615pm Conditioning Circuit class.

Thursday 430pm Elite Development squad training.

Thursday 630pm Flexibility Class

There is also an adfitional session on Saturday morning for the advanced group.

All these sessions are from the Michelin Athletic Club on the Woodside Road in Ballymena. New comers are always welcome.
