McKinstry stars in weekend half marathon outing

Fit N Running athlete Mark McKinstry added to his considerable medal haul when he led North Belfast Harriers to the Northern Ireland Team title last Sunday.

In a rare outing at the distance in the Belfast City Half marathon Mark produced a huge personal best performance in a sell out event which incorporates the National championships.

The Glenwherry-based runner finished well up the field in 5th place in 71mins 53secs.

This team gold completed a superb hatrick for Mark and the Harriers team who have also won the National 5k and 10k team titles this season.

26 EXTREME CAUSEWAY HALF MARATHON

Vernon Sheils produced a superb performance at the Causeway coast half marathon on Saturday when he claimed a top 10 finish from a field of 418 athletes.

Fine weather conditions greeted the large turnout for this popular off road event which is staged on undulating coastal pathways.

Vernon took full advantage and indeed improved his time from last year when he finished in 1hr 42mins 27secs which saw him claim 8th place.

Wednesday 615pm Conditioning Circuit.
