On rink 3 Keith Burnett, Wilfie Stewart, Dessie Shaw and Paul Davidson were always in control of their game against D McCullough. The home rink picked up a single on the first end but 3 shots on the 2nd end got the Braid men up and going and by the time the game had reached half way point of the contest the visitors lead by 10 shots to 4. The home rink claimed a count of 5 shots on the penultimate ends to give themselves an outside chance of victory however 2 shots on the final end gave Davidson’s men a hard fought 21-16 win.

Willie McNabb, John Houston, Liam Lyness and Robert Mark made a decent start against P Cavanagh on rink 4 and with 5 ends played the visitors lead by 6 shots to 2. Six ends later however the home rink were back on level terms with the score board reading 8-8 and 2 shots on the 12th end gave the Castleton men the lead for the first time. The Ballymena men levelled the game again when they picked up 2 singles however that would be the last time that the visitors were able to score as the home rink claimed 4 consecutive singles over the remaining ends to wrap up a 14-10 victory.

It did not look good for Roy Kernohan, Bertie Thompson, George Stewart and Jim Cameron on rink 6 when they lost the first 3 ends against A Duff to trail by 5 shots to 0. The remainder of the game however was a different story and 4 ends later the Braid men were back on level terms with scores tied at 6-6. Six shots over the next 5 ends put Cameron’s men in charge and even though the home rink scored a single on the 13th end it turned out to be only a temporary blip as the Braid rink picked up three 3’s and a single to take the game away from the Castleton men.

The home rink claimed a single on the final end to finish off the scoring for the night but victory went to the visitors with the final score 22-8
