At the half way stage of the game between Keith Burnett, Robert Mark, Paul Davidson and Joe McKeown and the visiting rink skipped by P Gray on rink 1 the scores were level at 9-9.

The Dunbarton rink picked up a single on the next end but the Braid men won the next 4 ends to open up a 6 shot lead. Four singles were scored over the closing ends with McKeown’s men eventually claiming a 17-13 victory.

Roy Kernohan, Tommy Crooks, Ivan Lynn and Jim Cameron faced the experienced M Merritt on rink 2 but the Braid men were certainly not there just to make up the numbers.

The visitors could only pick up 3 singles over the first 10 ends and at this stage of the contest the Braid men lead by 7 shots.

Cameron’s men stunned the Gilford rink when they picked up a count of 5 shots on the next end and from then on there was only ever going to be one winner with the Ballymena men going on to record an excellent win by 22 shots to seven.

On rink 3 Willie McNabb, Harry Millar, Artie McAuley and Arnold Kenny found it tough going against M Adamson.

The visitors won the first 4 ends to open up an 11 shot lead however a brace of 3’s over the next couple of ends got the Braid men up and running.

This however proved to be a false dawn as the Dunbarton rink won the next 9 ends to increase their advantage to 24 shots and even though the Ballymena rink won 2 of the remaining ends it made little difference to the final outcome with the visitors winning by 33 shots to 8.
