More PBs for Fit N Running members at Seeley Cup

There was a sell out field of 1000 athletes on Saturday afternoon as Willowfield hosted their annual Seeley Cup 10k road race.

Despite the event losing its Northern Ireland Championship status there was still a stellar turn out of top notch performers on show.

Michelin Athletic Club-based Fit N Running had five athletes in action and recorded no less than four personal best performances, with Mark McKinstry finishing on the winning team.

Indeed it was Glenwherry-based athlete McKinstry who was the first of the group to finish in 33 minutes seven seconds in 16th place.

That result was good enough to see him make the six man winning North Belfast Harriers team.

Connor Shiels continues to improve as he recorded a personal best time.

He crossed the finishing line in 37 minutes 40 seconds to finish in 97th place overall.

Michael Sloan kept up his 100 per cent record of personal bests since joining as a Fit N Running member when he finished in 48 mins 47 secs.

Alison Gribben who only took up running in January of this year continues to improve as she recorded a new best of 52 mins 12 secs.

Dianne Lyttle another relative newcomer also recorded a new best when she finished in 61 mins 39 secs.

Overall race winner was Irish champion Paul Pollock of Annadale Striders in a time of 30mins 15 secs.

WEEKLY TRAINING

The club started have recently started their new Thursday evening session starting at 6.15pm.

This session is a one hour run for the intermediate group and a tempo type run for the advanced group.

Fit N Running also have an intermediate runners class on Monday evenings, an advanced. class on Tuesday evenings and two strength conditioning circuit classes on Wednesday evenings.

All of these start at 6.15pm with the earlier circuit class on Wednesday starting at 5.15pm.

New comers are always welcome.
