More podium finishes for in-form McKinstry

Fit N Running athlete Mark McKinstry has started 2014 in fine form with two more podium finishes in an 8 day period.

Following his team bronze medal at the Northern Ireland senior cross country championships Mark claimed another victory in the Sperrin Harriers winter league series.

Over a 10k course at Drum Manor it was another blistering 400 metre finish which saw him break the tape and consolidate his 1st place in the series. His time was 35mins 49 secs with Michael Crawley a further 8 secs adrift in 2nd.

The Ballymena club had five athletes in action at the junior and masters cross country championships at Lurgan Park on Saturday.

In the junior intermediate race Mark McKinstry claimed 29th place in a field laced with quality over a 10k course. Fifteen year old Connor McQuillan also ran in the adult 10k race and finished in 48th place from a field of 102 runners.

James Wallace claimed 6th in his age category over 8k in the masters race when he finished in34mins 37secs.

Club coach Gregory Walsh in his first competitive outing in 15months helped North Belfast Harriers win the team prize.

Paula Wallace was in action in the ladies 4k event and finished in 22mins 22secs claiming 48th place from an overall field of 93 runners.

CLUB SCHEDULE

Fit N Running who are based at the Michelin Athletic club train four times each week with an attention to detail approach which delivers great results for all of its members.

Monday at 615pm is an easy paced run which is suitable for all levels and now includes beginners.

Tuesday at 615pm is Advanced level to improve speed and performance.

Wednesday at 6pm is strength conditioning training in a circuit format.

There is also a weight-loss group on Wednesday evening with tailored nutrition plans and a weekly weigh in provided.
