Fit N Running athlete Mark McKinstry produced another impressive performance on Saturday afternoon at the University grounds in Coleraine.

The in form McKinstry claimed a fantastic 4th place in the Northern Ireland & Ulster junior and intermediate cross country championships and lead North Belfast Harriers to victory in the team event in the process.

It follows on from a hugely successful 2014 in which the Glenwherry man really made an impact on the local cross-country scene.

Already in 2015, he started the new year by finishing in second place behind multiple winner Jarlath Falls in the annual Race Over the Glens promotion at Glenariff Forest Park.

Last Monday saw the start of a new beginners course which will take participants from scratch to 35 mins running over an 8 week period.

The beginners were given a comprehensive warm up and cool down plan accompanied by video access and a home training plan.

This is essential in preventing injuries and promoting performance.

There is also a private beginner support Facebook page for posting questions.

The club staged 3 successful beginners courses last year with all participants benefiting from the structured approach and completing the courses injury free.

Fit N Running weekly sessions and times are as follows:

Monday 615pm Recreational Run.

Monday 730pm Beginners Run.

Tuesday 615pm Advanced Run.

Wednesday 515pm & 615pm Conditioning circuit training.

New comers are always welcome.
