With Randalstown First XI not in action due to the under-18 inter-Provincial series, attention swtched to the sides further down the club.
The Second XI hosted a strong Ards Seconds team at Antrim forum and Ards had a strong start and were 1-0 up in the first 10 minutes.
The Randalstown defence, organised by Kathryn McCullough and Fiona Lee in the centre, began to provide structure for the whole team but were unfortunate to let 2 more goals in before the break.
After some strong words from Andy Gleghorne at half time the Randalstown team came out afresh at half time and the change was remarkable.
Unfortunately a lack of finishing ability and a very strong Ards keeper meant that endless penalty corners and chances went unconverted. A lovely play between midfield and attack ended in a goal from Nicole Moore to end the game a 3-1 defeat for the girls in green.
Randalstown III 2, Ballymoney II 4: Randalstown 3rd XI travelled to the Joey Dunlop Centre On Saturday to play recently relegated Ballymoney.
Five minutes in, good work from Megan Lamont and Holly found Megan Geddis free to score the first goal of the game. The lead was short lived as Ballymoney equalised three minutes later after a goal mouth scuffle. Ballymoney then took the upper hand and went ahead after a solo run into the circle. Unfortunately further defensive errors meant the visitors conceded a third goal before half time.
Randalstown started the second half brightly causing Ballymoney plenty of problems at the back, but just couldn’t make their chances count. Ballymoney secured the points with a fourth goal. Randalstown battled until the end and were rewarded with a consolation goal to finish the game 2-4. Many thanks once again to David Lamont for umpiring.
Randalstown IV 0, Greenisland II 1: The 4th XI ladies faced Greenisland ladies 2nd XI for a league match on Friday night at the Antrim Forum.
Midway through the second half the opposition managed to breach the defence and due to some confusion in the cirlce an unlucky goal against Randalstown resulted.
