Antrim Hockey Club Second XI made it back-to-back victories with a confident 3-0 success at Banbridge Fourths on Saturday.
With Antrim 1st XI not having a game Antrim selected Andrew Morrison to bolster the team.
Antrim then won a penalty corner after the ball hit a Banbridge foot. Neil McCullough blasted the ball into the bottom right hand corner with a pile driver of a strike.
Minutes later Bann had their chance to equalise from a penalty corner award. The ball was ejected to the top of the D and a powerful drag flick was somehow cleared off the line by that man McCullough as Antrim went in at the break a goal to the good.
Antrim’s team talk was cool calm and collected with the emphasis being to capitalise on getting something out of the attacks and moving the ball down the right.
Within minutes of the restart Antrim’s fiery Chris Wilson showed that he has pace to burn. An aerial pass was intercepted and then Wilson beat one or two players before passing out right. Wiilson then picked up a return pass and hammered the ball into goal to prove to the captain and vice captain he deserves his position up front!
Minutes later Antrim scored a third when Michael Conway intercepted a pass and played the ball to Johnny McMeekin who slipped the ball out to the in rushing Wilson who drifted past a defender and fired the ball towards goal.
Young Andrew Morrison ghosted in to score Antrim’s third with a great reverse stick deflection.
