Bowler Barbara Cameron will compete for a bronze medal in the ladies' pairs at the Commonwealth Games on Friday.

Barbara Cameron will have an opportunity to win the first Commonwealth Games medal of her distinguished bowling career on Friday.

The Ballymena woman, along with partner Mandy Cunningham, take on Jersey tomorrow morning with the bronze medal in the women’s pairs event up for grabs.

The Northern Ireland duo lost their semi-final clash against England by 19 shots to 14-earlier this afternoon, in a match where victory would have clinched at least a silver medal.

The match takes place at 8.45am at Kelvingrove.

Ballymena boxer Steven Donnelly is already assured of a bronze medal, after reaching the last four of the welterweight division.

But unlike boxing, where both losing semi-finalists each receive a bronze medal, the bowlers are not guaranteed a medal and will have to win the third v fourth match to claim the prize, with the losers going home empty-handed.
