Broughshane PFA indoor Bowling Club are putting the finishing touches to preparations for their annual licensed bowling tournament.
The competition takes place in the Community Centre, Knockan Road, Broughshane from Monday 1st February to Friday 5th February 2016 with finals night on Saturday 6th February.
This popular tournament which ran as a pairs competition from the clubs inception in 1972, became a singles competition in 2009 and is one of the most popular tournaments in the short mat calendar.
“The tournament regularly attracts entrants from all parts of the province,” explains tournament secretary Richard Rodgers.
Last year Raymond Stubbs, Ballinderry BC emerged from a field of 190 players to win the tournament, beating Antrim IBC’s Darren McCullough in the final”.
This year the format for the tournament will be slightly different in that 4 mats will be in operation with a maximum entry of 32 players per night with the aim being to avoid any late night finishes. Two sections will be running with one winner from each section going forward to finals night”.
“Again this year we are supporting the McMillan Cancer charity as we have done now for the past number of years in the process raising hundreds of pounds thanks to the generosity of all either taking part or spectating”.
Entries can be made via the tournament’s Facebook page or by contacting Richard Rodgers on 07704086574.
The organisers have thanked AIR Commercial Services, Wrightbus, Adrian McCaw (I’ve Passed Driving School) and Noel Reaney (N&P Tyres) for their generous sponsorship.
