Corey who is 16 years old first entered the Co Antrim Championships aged 11 which is the entry level age group for competitive boxing and since then all of his titles have been achieved in the ring, with no walkovers in that time.
Corey fought last week at 70kg which is a weight above is normal fighting weight, Corey weighed in on the night of the final at 67.5 kgs and was giving away almost 4 kgs.
Despite this Corey dominated his opponent and easily out boxed and outfought his west Belfast opponent.
Braid coach John McLeister said: “Corey has been training hard and sparring hard and we have been learning new things.
“He could easily have stopped his opponent but rather we opted to use this fight as a learning fight trying new things.
Corey who will box in the USA later this week was glad to get a few rounds under his belt in preparation for Washington.
“Corey is growing into a strong boxer we would be hopeful of an Irish title if we opt to enter, Corey will be travelling home from Washington after boxing there and would be expected to enter the Irish Championships the very next day, we will see how he feels and decide at the time,” added John.
