Fit N Running duo Pauline Thom and Vernon Shiels were in action in the Masters X country event in Belfast on Saturday morning.
Pauline who has just returned to the sport after 13 years out ran her first competitive race since her return and produced a fine performance over the 6k course at Barnets Demense.
In a race which is effectively a trial for selection to the Northern Ireland Masters team for the forthcoming British and Irish Masters Championships Pauline claimed 2nd in her age category and an automatic place on the National team.
Her time was 22mins 57secs.
Vernon on his X Country debut posted a promising performance over the 5mile course when he bettered his equivalent road time to finish 40th in 29mins dead.

Mark McKinstry was in relentless form last week at the Comber Cup x country races when he produced a gun to tape victory. He took up the running early on and was indeed convincing as he claimed top slot from a quality field of 198 runners.
