Fit N Running athlete Mark McKinstry brought the curtain down on a successful cross country season when he made his International debut at Greenmount on Saturday.

The event incorporates the home countries’ International championships.

He received the call up to the Northern Ireland team following his silver medal at the national championships.

Going in a field laced with quality, including some impressive Africans, the 31 year old Glenwherry man revelled in the experience and claimed a very creditable 38th place in 36mins 32secs over the 10800 metres course.

The race winner was Thomas Ayetc of Uganda in a time of 31mins 27secs.
